Performance notes

This performance was presented as part of SMCClab live #1, the first research performance series from the ANU Sound, Music and Creative Computing Lab. The event took place at 7:30pm on Friday 7 November 2025 in the Big Band Room, Peter Karmel Building, ANU, and centred on new instruments, new sounds and experimental computer music practices.

My performance presented the practical outcome of my AR musical instrument research. Using Meta Quest 3, Unity/OpenXR and Pure Data, the system transformed everyday objects into spatial musical controls. The performance focused on embodied interaction: object position, hand movement and spatial attention were mapped into sound behaviours, allowing ordinary objects to become playable interfaces in an augmented environment.
