Burial Heart
A virtual museum and excavation-inspired interactive experience that turns ancient-history research into a navigable spatial journey of discovery, atmosphere and cultural interpretation.
Overview
Burial Heart is an exploratory interactive experience where I worked on worldbuilding, spatial circulation and visual research. Staged between a virtual museum and an archaeological journey, the project draws on ancient-history references, exhibition design and symbolic visual language to create a space where players can move through curated areas, encounter artefact-like objects and gradually uncover the logic of the world.
The work is designed to make cultural material feel spatial and approachable. Architecture, lighting, signage, object placement and guided movement build a sense of ritual, curiosity and discovery across the experience.
Design and technical route
The design route began with visual research into ancient motifs, museum display strategies and treasure-hunt structures, then translated those references into a coherent environment with clear circulation and staged focal points. I developed the visual style through reference boards and Photoshop studies, then produced architectural forms, props and symbolic objects through Maya modelling, UV mapping and Substance Painter PBR texturing. The experience balances large museum-like volumes with smaller interactive details, allowing the player to read both the scale of the space and the purpose of each encounter.
Technically, the project combines a full 3D DCC route, modular environment production, Unity scene construction, light baking, navigation planning, UI guidance and C# exploration logic. Sound was treated as part of the exhibition atmosphere, using recorded and edited material shaped through Reaper, FMOD and Audacity for ambience, discovery cues and spatial feedback. The production converts research material into an experiential system where visual worldbuilding, user flow and interaction mechanics support a polished cultural exploration.
